Year 6 transition

Parents of Year 6 Pupils – Welcome

The transition team here at Tile Cross Academy want to support you and your child every step of the way and we believe it is vitally important to make the transition from primary to secondary school as smooth and as easy as possible. As a parent we understand the different emotions that you will be going through and seeing your child start secondary school we realise can be a daunting experience for both them and yourselves as their parent.

Please be assured that here at Tile Cross Academy we are here to support in any way that we can. We have a dedicated team and pastoral care system in place, we have a specialised English as an additional language team which can support with translation, bus pass information or any other documentation in which you require support with. Here at Tile Cross Academy we have 28 different languages and have a dedicated support team who  speak a number of those languages.

We believe that the relationship between both parent and school is paramount,  we offer a transition evening for all parents and pupils, this is an informative evening where you will meet the Head teacher and the specific staff which are heavily involved in the transition process and after care once your child is here. The following day we also believe it is an invaluable experience for your child to come into the school and experience our exciting curriculum and take part in several lessons throughout the day, this giving them a taste of what it is we offer here at Tile Cross Academy, it is also a great way for your child to make new friends so that September they feel more at ease when they walk through our doors.

If that was not enough we also offer a fantastic Summer school which is exclusive to our new Year 7 pupils who join us in September. Another amazing experience of our curriculum but also a fun and invigorating way to learn. Your child will continue to build those relationships with members of staff but also see their new friends once more.
