Safeguarding

Welcome to the Tile Cross Academy Safeguarding Area

At Tile Cross Academy we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our students and to ensuring that all users of the Academy are happy and safe whilst with us. We recognise that all staff and governors have a full and active part to play in protecting our students from harm, and that the child’s welfare is our paramount concern.

The Governing Body takes seriously its responsibility under section 175 of the Education Act 2002 to safeguard and promote the welfare of children; and to work together with other agencies to ensure adequate arrangements within our college to identify, assess, and support those children who are suffering harm.

All staff believe that our Academy should provide a caring, positive, safe and stimulating environment that promotes the social, physical and moral development of the individual child.

Safeguarding is defined as:

  • Protecting children from maltreatment;
  • Preventing impairment of children’s health or development;
  • Ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and
  • Taking action to enable all children to have the best life chances.
